ANNUAL BUDGET PRESENTATION AND BUDGET VOTE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to Executive Order 202.26, the regularly scheduled Budget Vote and Election and the Budget Hearing have been adjourned to alternate dates and will follow modified procedures in accordance with that Executive Order.
NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the annual budget presentation for the inhabitants of the Brockport Central School District, Brockport, New York, qualified to vote at school meetings in said district, will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 6:00 p.m., for the transaction of such business as is authorized by the Education Law. This meeting will be held virtually. Information regarding virtual access to the hearing and the submission of questions for the hearing will be provided on the District’s website at www.bcs1.org.
NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN, that a copy of the statements of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for the school purposes, specifying the several purposes and the amount for each, may be obtained by any taxpayer in the District during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the annual meeting on the District’s website at www.bcs1.org.
NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN, that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed in the Office of the Clerk of the District via email at District.Clerk@bcs1.org not later than the thirtieth day preceding the school election on June 9, 2020 to wit: to be filed not later than May 11, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.. Per Executive Order 202.26, said petitions will not require signatures of the qualified voters of the District. All other legal requirements to be a Board of Education member shall remain in effect. Petitions may be obtained via email at District.Clerk@bcs1.org.
The following vacancies are to be filled on the Board of Education: one (1), five-year term, 2020-2025. Petitions shall not describe any specific vacancy upon the Board of Education for which the candidate is nominated. Candidates for the Board of Education are required by law to file sworn statements of campaign expenses. An initial statement must be filed at least 30 days before the election, a second statement must be filed on or before the fifth day preceding the election and a final statement must be filed within 20 days after the election. Information on this procedure may be obtained from the District Clerk.
NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that in accordance with Executive Order 202.26, the annual Budget Vote and Election will be held on June 9, 2020 and will be conducted solely by absentee ballot. Qualified voters of the District shall be entitled to vote. A qualified voter is one who is (1) a citizen of the United States, (2) eighteen (18) years of age or older, and (3) a resident within the district for a period of thirty (30) days preceding the vote and election. At least one (1) absentee ballot with return postage will be mailed to each household in the District. Should there be more qualified voters residing at a household than absentee ballots received, the qualified voter should contact the District Clerk by email at District.Clerk@bcs1.org. to obtain a ballot. Military ballots will be provided per request submitted to the District Clerk by email at District.Clerk@bcs1.org. Military voters may designate in such email his/her preference to receive the military ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. Military ballots must be returned by mail. All absentee ballots (including military) must be received in the Office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. local time on June 9, 2020.
NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN, that at the same time and manner for said election, to wit: on June 9, 2020, by absentee ballot, the annual budget will be voted upon, said budget being designated as Proposition No.1.
PROPOSITION NO. 1
Shall the following resolution be adopted, to wit:
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Brockport Central School District, Brockport, New York, be and hereby is authorized to expend necessary funds to meet expenditures for the school year 2020-2021 and to levy the necessary tax therefore, be approved?
AND NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, that at the same time and manner for said election, to wit: on June 9, 2020, by absentee ballot, the following resolution will be voted upon, and will be designed as Proposition No. 2.
PROPOSITION NO. 2
Shall the following resolution be adopted, to wit:
RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of Brockport Central School District, Genesee, Monroe and Orleans Counties, New York, is hereby authorized to purchase school buses at a maximum estimated cost not to exceed $1,133,000 and that such sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of said School District and collected in annual installments as provided by Section 416 of the Education Law; and, in anticipation of such tax, obligations of said school district shall be issued.
The School District Clerk is hereby authorized to amend the notice of the Annual District Meeting from time to time as, in his or her discretion, such amendment may be required.
