NOTICE OF ANNUAL VOTE ON BUDGET, PROPOSITIONS AND ELECTION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to Executive Order 202.26, the regularly scheduled Budget Vote and Election and the Budget Hearing have been adjourned to alternate dates and will follow modified procedures in accordance with Executive Order.
AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that, in accordance with Executive Order 202.26, a vote by the voters of the Greece Central School District upon the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet estimated expenditures for the ensuing year, and a vote upon the propositions hereafter set forth, will be held on June 9, 2020.
AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the following propositions will be submitted for voter approval at such time:
Shall the following resolution be adopted to wit:
RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE GREECE CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO UNDERTAKE THE ACQUISITION OF EIGHT (8) 63-PASSENGER SCHOOL BUSES AT AN ESTIMATED MAXIMUM COST OF $123,736 EACH, FIVE (5) 63-PASSENGER SCHOOL BUSES WITH CARGO STORAGE AT AN ESTIMATED MAXIMUM COST OF $128,440 EACH, SIX (6) 30-PASSENGER VANS AT AN ESTIMATED MAXIMUM COST OF $63,041 EACH, FOUR (4) 30-PASSENGER WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE SCHOOL BUSES AT AN ESTIMATED MAXIMUM COST OF $81,717 EACH AND TWO (2) MINIVANS AT AN ESTIMATED MAXIMUM COST OF $26,612 EACH, ALL AT AN ESTIMATED MAXIMUM AGGREGATE COST OF $2,390,426, LESS TRADE-IN VALUE, IF ANY, AND TO APPROPRIATE AND EXPEND FROM THE EXISTING BUS PURCHASE RESERVE FUND $805,000 FOR SUCH COSTS, AND THAT THE BALANCE OF SUCH COSTS, OR SO MUCH THEREOF AS MAY BE NECESSARY, SHALL BE RAISED BY THE LEVY OF A TAX TO BE COLLECTED IN ANNUAL INSTALLMENTS; AND, IN ANTICIPATION OF SUCH TAX, DEBT OBLIGATIONS OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AS MAY BE NECESSARY NOT TO EXCEED $1,585,426 SHALL BE ISSUED, OR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT MAY ENTER INTO AN INSTALLMENT PURCHASE CONTRACT IF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION DETERMINES THAT IT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT TO FINANCE THE PURCHASE IN THAT METHOD.
AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN THAT, in accordance with Executive Order 202.26, such vote shall take place solely by Absentee Ballot and shall encompass the District’s six election districts. The boundaries of each election district have been established by resolution of the Board of Education on file in the office of the District Clerk. Pursuant to New York State Law, District residents registered to vote with the Monroe County Board of Elections are eligible to vote at school district meetings without further registration. District residents who are qualified voters of the District but who are not registered with the Monroe County Board of Elections can register online at https://dmv.ny.gov/more-info/electronic-voter-registration-application.
AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a resident unable to vote because of military service as defined under the Commissioner’s Emergency Regulation Part 122, who has not previously registered with the District and by reason of such military service, is absent from the school district in which he or she is qualified to vote on the day of registration or election; or a spouse, parent, child or dependent of a voter as described above, accompanying or being with such voter, if a qualified voter of the State of New York and a resident of the District, should contact the District Clerk by email (email@example.com) no later than 25 days (May 15, 2020) prior to the vote on June 9, 2020 to register to receive a military ballot.
AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the final register of the voters will be filed in the office of the District Clerk and will be available for inspection via email to the District Clerk (firstname.lastname@example.org) during regular business hours on each of the five days prior to the day of the election, except Sunday, and except that the hours shall be between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Saturday.
AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes specifying the several purposes and the amount of each, including the amount estimated necessary for payments to the Board of Cooperative Educational Services with no deduction of estimated state aid may be obtained by any resident in the district during the fourteen days immediately preceding the above vote on the District’s website at www.greececsd.org.
AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the Board of Education will hold a public hearing for the purpose of discussion of the expenditure of funds and the budgeting thereof on May 26, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. local time. Information regarding remote access for such hearing will be available on the District’s website at www.greececsd.org.
AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must express their interest via e-mail to the District Clerk (email@example.com) not later than 5:00 p.m. on May 11, 2020. Candidates must meet the age, residency and any other requirements required to be placed on the ballot. Per Executive Order 202.26, declarations of interest will not require signatures of the qualified voters of the District. Candidates will be placed on the ballot alphabetically.
The following vacancies are to be filled on the Board of Education:
Three-year Term 2020-2023 incumbent – Sean McCabe
Three-year Term 2020-2023 incumbent – William Maloney
Three-year Term 2020-2023 incumbent – John Siwicki
One-year Term 2020-2021 incumbent- James W. Sawers
Vacancies shall not be considered as separate offices and said submissions shall not describe any specific vacancy upon the Board of Education for which the candidate is nominated. As many candidates may be elected as there are vacancies to be filled. The three candidates receiving the highest number of votes will serve the full terms. The fourth candidate receiving the next highest number of votes will serve a one-year term.
AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the election of members of the Board of Education will be held by absentee ballot on the same date of election as the vote upon the appropriation of necessary funds to meet estimated expenditures for the ensuing year herein above set forth.
AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a list of all persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available for inspection during regular business hours via email to the District Clerk (firstname.lastname@example.org) during the five days prior to the day of the election, except Saturday and Sunday.
AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that all absentee ballots (including military) must be received in the Office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. local time on June 9, 2020.
